GULYAKA — ANCIENT, ETERNAL YOUNG
At all times, women's jewelry caught the eye and was in high demand among fashionistas. Numerous books and articles have been written about jewelry. So we decided to introduce the reader to one of these masterpieces of national jewelry - gulyaka.
Translated from the Turkmen gulyaka - "flowering flower". To this day, fans of jewelry can meet different in size, shape, and also on the plot, jewelry. Each gulyaka has a relief difference. The most famous is considered to be the Gasankulian gulyaka.
The Balkan velayat, especially Gasankuli etrap, has long been famous for its craftsmen, whose golden hands have truly created unique ornaments. It is worth noting that the Balkan masters were not only skilled in creating a special type of brooch, but also had a deep knowledge of gems and other stones. Every jeweler-zerger sought to create something exclusive that will delight the grace, the uniqueness of the relief.
Gyzylgul Kyyasova, the author of the book « A dictionary of jewelry terms» (Zergärçilik sözlügi) stops in detail on this type of gulyaka. She writes: "The difference between this type of decoration and others is that it is unique and interesting, unique in shape and size, in that it is placed on it, along with the traditional carnation, turquoise and emerald." In addition, on the Hasankuliyya gulyaka, one can see the original patterns of traditional crafts «aygyzyl», «gochboynuz» and «ker-kere».
Russian zoologist V.S. Zaletayev in his book "Ancient and New Roads of Turkmenistan" (1979), wrote in great detail about the various ornaments of the Turkmen people. At the same time, he focuses on those that were manufactured in the Balkan velayat, and emphasizes the importance of this region in the jewelry business, often using various stones for their work.
Gulyaka has always been a favorite decoration for beauties, especially for fashionistas of those years. Parents took care of having a special attribute in their daughters' outfits. They turned to famous masters with a request to make a particularly popular gulyaka. The girls at the issuance dreamed of having a unique brooch in their dowry.
Today, thanks to the tireless work of jewelry craftsmen, the ancient, at the same time, young art is being revived. And the gull, no matter where it was made, is still in demand, as it was in the last century.
