THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL TEAM OF TURKMENISTAN HAS A NEW HEAD COACH

The national football team of Turkmenistan was headed by a new head coach. The 60-year-old honored coach of Turkmenistan Said Seyidov became the winner. The Football Federation of the country announced his appointment today.

Seyidov was replaced by Yazkuli Khodjageldiyev as the head coach of the national team.

Said Seyidov is a pupil of the honored coach of Turkmenistan Gennady Durashev. As a player, he played for the Ashgabat "Kolkhozchi", the Uzbek teams "Zvezda-Buston" and "Sogdiana" from Jizzakh, as well as the Turkmen clubs "Kopetdag", "Merv", "Ahal", "Nebitchi", "Nisa" and "Turan". ".

In 1991 he graduated from the Turkmen State Institute of Physical Culture and Sports with a degree in organizing physical culture, sports and tourism.

He worked as a coach with the teams "Buzmeyin", "Galkan", "Nisa", "Kopetdag", "Ashgabat", "Akhal", as well as in the Uzbek clubs "Navbakhor", "Shurtan", "Mashyal", "Nasaf" and " Bukhara.

In 2015, Said Seyidov brought the Ashgabat Kopetdag to the national top league, and in 2018 he won the Cup of Turkmenistan with this team of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Seyidov's last place of work in 2021 was the Ashgabat club.

Said Seyidov will prepare the national team of Turkmenistan for the final qualifying stage of the Asian Cup-2023. Coaches Kamil Mingazov, Begench Garaev and goalkeeper mentor Pavel Matus will help him in working with the main team of the country.

In the qualifying tournament of the Asian Cup-2023, the national team of Turkmenistan will play in group "E" with the teams of Bahrain, Malaysia and Bangladesh. All matches in this group will be held in one round from 8 to 14 June in Malaysia.

The winners of six groups and the top five teams among the runners-up will advance to the finals of the 2023 Asian Cup.

The main football tournament on the Asian continent will be held from June 16 to July 16, 2023 in ten Chinese cities - Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, Xi'an, Dalian, Qingdao, Xiamen and Suzhou.

Turkmen football players have twice participated in the final stages of the Asian Cup. For the first time - in 2004, when the tournament was held in China, and the second time - in 2019 in the United Arab Emirates.
